What should a wedding dress exude for you?

For me, a wedding dress should exude personality. It's important that the dress reflects who I am. I wanted something authentic yet elegant, something that was truly 'me'. Because I love minimalism, as can be seen in our interior for example, I knew this would also be reflected in the dress.

What does a wedding dress mean to you?

A wedding dress contributes to the entire atmosphere of the wedding. It's a very important part, because it's not just about the appearance, but also about how I feel in it. Not only on the day itself, but also in the entire process leading up to it.

Did you have certain expectations for a wedding dress beforehand? Were they met?

Yes, I certainly had expectations. I had seen this specific dress online during my search and immediately knew I wanted to try it on. Once I put it on, I immediately felt that this was the dress for me. So my expectations were fully met; it was a quick and clear choice. Of course, I was aware that it could also be disappointing when you actually try on the dress. But I was sure that I would find my dress within this style.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Authentic, minimalistic, elegant.

 

What made your dream dress perfect for you?

My dream dress was perfect because it wasn't traditional and had an elegance that appealed to me. Most importantly, I felt completely myself in this dress. It was an extension of my personality and perfectly matched the atmosphere I envisioned for our wedding.

 

 

What were your expectations of a bridal boutique?

I expected an intimate and personal approach in a beautiful setting where I would feel comfortable. It was important for me to find a boutique that not only had a beautiful collection, but also offered a warm and welcoming atmosphere. In addition, I found it very important to be assisted by someone who could support me well in finding the dress and could listen carefully to my wishes and expectations. This was completely fulfilled at Wild at Heart!

 

What did you enjoy most about your experience at Wild At Heart?

The complete experience was fantastic. From the moment I entered the beautiful boutique, I felt special. The intimate, personal approach and the attention I received made it an unforgettable experience.

What does a wedding mean to you?

For me, a wedding is an intimate and personal celebration of our love. As a wedding photographer, I've been fortunate to gather a lot of inspiration from other people's weddings. Over the years, I've truly learned how important it is that the wedding is celebrated as the couple dreams, without considering potential expectations and opinions of others. Everyone is free to celebrate as big or as small as they wish. 

We chose to celebrate it intimately with just the two of us in Iceland, which really gave us the opportunity to focus on our love and our adventure. It wasn't just the wedding day, but actually the entire trip that was dedicated to the wedding. From all the preparations in the days leading up to it to a wonderful spa day to let everything sink in after the wedding. This was the most special trip we've ever taken together! In August, we will put on our wedding attire again and celebrate with our friends and family in the Netherlands during a reception, dinner, and party. For us, this is perfect!

 

 

Who all were present?

We were truly just the two of us in Iceland! However, we had brought a photographer, videographer, and MUAH from the Netherlands. We found it very important to have a good click with the 'team', as they were the only ones who experienced all these intimate moments. In the Netherlands, we will celebrate our wedding with 135 people. For this day, we find it very important that everything is focused on celebrating and being together with our dear friends and family. 

 

What was the highlight of your wedding?

There were only highlights! The first look on a cliff at sunrise with a breathtaking view was magical. Shooting in the most impressive locations made for a special experience. We even embraced the extreme cold. We knew, 'this is what we have to work with, and we're going to make the best of it.' The planned helicopter flight unfortunately couldn't go ahead due to weather conditions. But the fact that we would then exchange our vows in the middle of a snowstorm was ultimately an unforgettable and beautiful moment! We truly enjoyed every second!

 

What advice would you give to future brides?

Plan YOUR dream wedding and don't be swayed by the expectations or opinions of others. It's your day, so do what feels best for you and what makes you happy. And enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

 

Do you want to share anything else about your wedding day?

If I could do it again, I would do it exactly the same way! The choice for an intimate elopement in Iceland and the way we will celebrate it in the Netherlands is perfect and unforgettable for us!
